Dental Implants Q & A

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots. The team at Century Village Dental inserts the implants into the empty sockets where your permanent teeth used to be. After placement, the posts fuse with your bone, providing a base for crowns or implant-anchored dentures.

What are the types of dental implants?

At Century Village Dental, the team offers a wide variety of dental implants, including:

Single implants
A single implant is a titanium post that replaces your natural tooth root. If you’re missing only a few teeth, the team might recommend placing one implant for each missing tooth and then covering them with porcelain crowns.

All-on-4 implants
You may benefit from All-on-4 implants if you’re missing most or all of your permanent teeth. All-on-4 implants support an entire arch of false teeth (upper or lower arch) with just four titanium posts. This means less time in surgery, quicker recovery, and a reduced risk of complications.

All-on-3 implants
The team at Century Village Dental uses All-on-3 dental implants to replace missing teeth in the lower arch. The All-on-3 system uses a minimally invasive approach to implant placement that provides stunning results.

What does getting dental implants involve?

At Century Village Dental, getting dental implants takes multiple appointments spaced over a year.

Your provider numbs your mouth with an anesthetic and places a series of implants into your empty tooth sockets. The number of posts your provider places depends on the type of implants you want. After surgery, they prescribe antibiotics and provide recovery instructions.

When the implants finish integrating with your bone a few months later, you return to Century Village Dental. Your provider takes molds of your mouth and sends them to a dental lab. The lab uses your molds to design and manufacture porcelain crowns or implant-anchored dentures.

When the lab finishes your implant restorations, you visit Century Village Dental for a third time. Your provider attaches the crowns or implant-anchored dentures to the implants, checks your bite, and gives aftercare instructions.

How do I care for my dental implants?

It would be best if you cared for your dental implants just as you would for your permanent teeth. The team at Century Village Dental recommends brushing your teeth twice daily, flossing regularly, and visiting the office every six months for preventive teeth cleaning.
